Bonus Concert #1:
Colorado Springs, Colorado
Venue unknown—most likely the Civic Auditorium
21 March, 1974
Just wanted to let you know [...] that the Colorado Springs concert in the forthcoming box is indeed from March 21, 1974 but at the CITY Auditorium (not "Civic" as in the UME press). This is proven by an extant newspaper clipping and by cross-referencing the venue mentioned in it, which still exists (there is no such "Civic").
They performed at Springs City Auditorium at 8 pm.
Hey, Bobby!
That is Jeff [Simmons] saying "Hey Bobby" and he is giving a shout out to the body guard Bobby Adams who was on side of stage. He used to be in a doo-wop band.
Then, another guy, who was really a great bodyguard, and I wish I could remember his name, he was only with me for a short time, but he used to sing in a rhythm 'n blues group called "The Calvanes", on Dootone, and he recorded a song called "Florabelle", which I have in my collection. His name is Bob. I can't remember his last name. Bob was a good guy. We used to sit in the dressing room, and sing doo-wop tunes together, but he wasn't available anymore, and couldn't do it anymore.
Lorenzo "Bobby" Adams sang second tenor in The Calvanes, a doo-wop group from Los Angeles. They put out a few singles in the 1950s. In 2001, with two original members left (Adams and lead singer Herman Pruitt), they put out a new album that's sort of a greatest hits of Los Angeles doo-wop groups, including a few songs that FZ played as a bogus disc jockey or performed or quoted in concert—including the Zappa/Collins composition Memories Of El Monte.
The Zappacast "Deep Dish" episode on Apostrophe is up. Some updates from Joe there:
[...]
- Bobby Adams (bodyguard) sang on the outro of Babbette at some 1974 shows. Joe mentioned that Dallas was one city where that happened, but then said he wasn't sure he remembered that correctly. (The only early 1974 shows that we have including Babbette are March 15 Seattle and April 23 Milwaukee. It's not on the March 5 Dallas recording.)
I think Bobby Adams might sing on the Seattle Babbette. I remember there being a singer who I couldn't identify on that recording, but I always kinda assumed Frank convinced Chester to sing.
Lorenzo "Bobby" Adams sang second tenor (i.e. one of the backing voices) in The Calvanes. He sang lead on the following records:
Bop Bop Baby/Little Girl, The Wonders (who would evolve into The Calvanes), 1954
Horror Pictures, The Calvanes, 1958
Cap Snapper, The Nuggets (The Calvanes, renamed after some personnel changes), 1962

On the new release [Joe Travers confirmed that] part of the Dayton "Uncle Meat" is taken from the [November 15, 1974] Buffalo show to fill in a gap.
There are other such fills, but not yet identified.

There's an edit IN Dinah-Moe, possibly censorship?
Gourd (Life On The Road Guy) just pointed it out.
Right after Frank says "maybe it would be different if i was David Bowie...arf arf arf..." the following has been edited out:
"Ground control to UNCLE Tom, oh wait that's not right."
My guess is the edit was to avoid copyright problems about the "Space Oddity" quote.
